Why is Seaweed Derived Calcium used in Placid Rein?

Seaweed-derived calcium is included in Placid Rein and Placid Rein PLUS due to it's bioavailable source of calcium, magnesium, and trace minerals for horses.

Here are some potential benefits associated with seaweed-derived calcium:

  • Bioavailability: Seaweed-derived calcium is known for its high bioavailability, meaning that it is easily absorbed and utilised by the horse's body. This ensures that the calcium, magnesium, and trace minerals present in the seaweed are effectively utilised for various physiological functions.
  • Gastric Buffer: Seaweed-derived calcium has been suggested to act as a gastric buffer, which may help in preventing or managing gastric ulcers in horses. The buffering effect can help maintain a more balanced pH in the stomach, potentially reducing the risk of ulcer formation.
  • Fluid Balance: Calcium, along with magnesium, plays a role in maintaining fluid balance in the body. This is particularly important during intense physical exercise when horses can lose electrolytes through sweating. Adequate calcium levels can help support proper muscle contraction and fluid balance, which may contribute to a calmer disposition in horses.
  • Overall Health and Performance: Calcium is essential for various physiological processes in horses, including muscle function, nerve transmission, and bone health. The presence of calcium and other trace minerals derived from seaweed in Placid Rein and Placid Rein PLUS can help support overall health and performance in horses.

It's important to note that the overall management of a horse's diet, exercise routine, and any specific health concerns should be considered in conjunction with calcium supplementation. Consulting with a veterinarian is always recommended to ensure appropriate supplementation and management practices for your horse's specific needs.

"I feel Placid Rein Plus to be instrumental to his continued positive health, training and development and I cannot speak highly enough of the product, not only for cases like mine but for nervous or anxious horses across varying breeds and disciplines." - Vanessa

"Mac, one of my young guns, arrived at my place at the end of last year looking a bit dull. After a course of Clean Culture (another amazing Stance Equitec product) and a couple of months on my staple Stance Equitec CoolStance and supplements he was looking and feeling a million dollars. This of course presented its own set of problems as his attention span went completely out the window and he turned into the worlds biggest spook! I first started him on Toxin Binder and noticed an improvement, and now with the addition of Placid Rein I'm blown away by how much more rideable he has become.- Asha Warnock

So yesterday I took Electronic Fortune to his first show jump training day since he retired from racing in Hong Kong last year. He is usually very highly strung around other horses so I always feed Equitec Placid Rein for training at home. I was expecting this to be quite stressful for him (the floating and the show itself) so I switched him to the Placid Rein PLUS for 5 days before to reduce his nerves and he was impeccably behaved! It was the first time he's seen more than one cross rail and apart from a couple of refusals he cleared every jump with feet to spare! He also stood tied to the float all day like a pro! For extra peace of mind I recommend giving the Placid Rein PLUS a try! - Lisa Jones
