Lou Tait has many years’ experience with horses, from gallopers to trotters, show and dressage horses, breeding top competition horses to yearling preparation and she is also a qualified grade 2 RAS Equestrian judge.
Lou campaigned her homebred mare Southwell Rendevouz (Mouse) in partnership with Rebecca McKee to the highest level in showing, performing with distinction to win countless Supreme Champions, Horse of the Year titles and Runner up large Saddle Hunter at the EA Nationals in Australia in 2014. Mouse also competed successfully with Rebecca up to level five dressage. Southwell Razamatazz, bred and competed by Lou as a youngster before being sold is currently competing in his first year at level one dressage and he too is consistently in the winner’s circle.
Lou wanted to pursue her five-year-old daughter Alaina’s passion for riding and showing ponies, so the difficult decision was made to sell Mouse. With Lou’s direction changing to teaching Alaina how to ride and compete, the horses have now ‘shrunk’ to ponies. They currently have two ponies in the team, Gundagai Leikellie and Maxwellton Betty Boop. Lou and Alaina are enjoying their first season in Lead Rein where Alaina is loving riding and has been collecting ribbons at every show.
Lou has fed Equilibrium B1 Cool Mix to all her horses for many years finding it a fantastic vitamin and mineral supplement for gleaming, shiny coats and general health. The horses always seem to have a spring in their step without getting too fizzy at the same time while on Equilibrium supplements.
