I recent was offered to trial Stance Equitec Gastrobuf (called UlcaBuf in Australia); I have found something that has proven extremely valuable in my program... Using the Succeed Fecal Test and Dr Laura Taylor's osteopathic evaluation, we found both foregut and hindgut ulcers in two of my horses in May of this year..... We trialled another product with unsuccessful results for 3 months then in August I started using Gastrobuf. Both my horses are now screening NEGATIVE for both foregut and hindgut ulcers!!!

They both have significantly different background.

I feed a low sugar, tested hay 24/7 in hay bags and have never fed grain to this horse. He is never alone, always being in a herd environment, and enjoys his days as a trail horse … so it is strange to me that he has recurrent gastro intestinal issues. In 2014, when I first started using the Succeed Fecal Test kits, I was beaming proud to say he was the first horse tested double negative! As symptomatic as this horse can be, this spring he was not symptomatic at all, and thankfully with my twice yearly Osteopathic appointments- the issue revealed itself before it got out of hand, and he became more symptomatic.

Indy is a 16-year-old Quarter horse. She came to me last summer. She had a foal the April prior and the foal was pulled prematurely and she had retained placenta and then was septic. She nearly lost her life. She was aggressively treated with meds (antibiotics etc) and she survived. When she came to me her feet were terrible, and although she had reasonably recovered from the crisis she still had so many issues. Conformationally, she is bowlegged and pigeon toed and not the soundest horse on my property…. But her career as a therapy horse is stellar. She is, by all client reports, the most beautiful horse on my property.

It was not surprising to me that she was found to have both foregut and hindgut ulcers. As with every day being here she was improving in her overall condition, and I cannot say that she had overt gastro intestinal symptoms, but I was not at all surprised to find that her screening was positive for both foregut and hindgut ulcers.

“Kolya 20 years old TB/1/4 Paint gelding diagnosed with Cushing’s age 19. Kolya did not have extend gut an any time. he tends to be on the slim side we did notice his top line proving. Physically his back has risen considerably. His attitude has improved as well he has been known to be a temperamental animal under saddle. He was over all a happier fellow.After a few weeks off the product, close to a month I notice the sensitivity on his back come back as well as the liquid with the stools. We have put him back on the product on maintenance dose. Kolya has been kept on a regular exercise regime for 11 years, he is not hard ridden. He goes out for hand walks for 2 months when the conditions are very poor here in our area. His walks are about 1 hour long. During the riding season he is either ridden 5 to 6 days a week and hand walk a day or two a week. Walks are around 1 to 2 hours ride 2 hours or so on mountain terrain and flats. He is a retired eventing horse ( retired at 15, green broke till 10) most of his life prior to me was being pastured. We do not trailer long distance, but do trailer on a regular base during the riding season. Trailering session do not exceed 1 hour. He lives on a small track system with one other horse.
